Laboratory of Sensorimotor Integration
Our laboratory is located in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine We also participate in the campus-wide Program in Neuroscience.
We are interested in sensorimotor integration: The mechanisms by which sensory information is processed to guide motor acts, and the mechanisms by which motor acts optimize the acquisition of sensory cues. Our studies are aimed at understanding these computational processes by deciphering the biophysical properties of individual neurons, the patterns and properties of synaptic interactions among different cells, and the mechanisms by which neuronal networks code sensory information and motor commands. An underlying theme in our studies is an integrative approach focusing on cellular, network, computational and behavioral correlates of neuronal information processing.
